Contemporary Chinese, Hanban/Confucius Enstitüsü tarafından onaylanıp desteklenen ve Sinolingua tarafından yayınlanan bir Çince öğretim projesidir.

Kitaplardaki ilgi çekici ve kullanışlı metinler hem geleneksel hem de basit Çince karakterlerle verilmiş, resimler, fotoğraflar, pinyin ve İngilizce tercümeleriyle desteklenmiştir.

Intended for Chinese language learners, this series of 14 titles, in forms of textbooks, teachers’ books, exercise books and character books, are designed to develop the learners’ ability to listen, speak, read and write, as well as the ability to communicate in social settings.

A total of 4 volumes of textbooks. Each book consists of 12 lessons for one term or one year. Each lesson includes 5 parts: vocabulary, texts, explanations, grammar and cultural tips. Book I and Book II focus on traditional Chinese culture and Book III and Book IV focus on present Chinese society. Accompanied with pictures and photos and explained in both simple and traditional Chinese characters, pinyin and English translation, the texts are interesting and practical.

This edition retains many features from the first edition, including: a concise structure with practical language; a focus on conversation, phonetics and characters at the elementary level; an emphasis on well-structured grammar and the unique features of Chinese characters; a vocabulary based teaching method;

In Volume 1 of this edition, ”lesson” is changed into ”unit”, with each unit including three lessons; this allows a clearer structure and more concise texts.

Scaffolding instruction and exercises were added to keep in line with the actual teaching process; while individual activities and supplementary materials are added to fully embody our process-oriented, task-based and interactive teaching concept.

We have corrected some mistakes of the first edition and updated some of the texts and cultural notes.
